Writing Challenge 2nd Quarter: Ed Sheeran
I took this picture last Thursday at an Ed Sheeran concert at Madison Square Garden, admittedly one of the best nights of my life.
I've been a fan of Ed since his first album, '+' came out in 2011. He creates the most beautiful music with my most meaningful lyrics that I've ever heard!
There's something special about seeing your idol in the flesh. Going to concerts and seeing someone who I idolize perform gives me an adrenaline rush that is different from running, from seeing someone who you haven't seen in a while, from acting.
Especially when music is such a huge and prominent part of my life as it is, the concert was absolutely magical!
This picture is especially special to me because it features his guitar. Ed has a really cute child-sized guitar. He's had it since he started gigging a few years ago, and a lot of people judge him on it. But even though a few of the strings have broke and it's quite worn out, it's always in tune and is absolutely beautiful.
In pretty much all of his songs, especially for the backing vocals he uses a loop pedal. It's basically another microphone that, when he sings/beatboxes into it, it plays it back over his current vocals. He also uses his guitar on the loop pedal and he uses it in concert as well. It makes his music up close, personal, and intimate because he doesn't use other people for backing vocals or backup guitar chords; he uses his own music and almost strictly his.
Seeing Ed in concert was mesmerizing, spectacular, and his performance was flawless.
